Here are some resources that parents should have to navigate opportunities to promote science learning and fun:
The first stop is my blog, The Dali. If I hear about something interesting, I will post it there or put something in the Parent Resource Center in the right margin of the site.
American Science and Surplus
This store, on the north side, is full of kits and curiosities at incredible prices. The staff is helpful with a good sense of humor. I send my students there to get inspiration for science projects. I call it Wal*Mart for nerds!
The Innovation Lab
Here, you can learn to use 21st century manufacturing tools. Your child will learn how easy it is to design and manufacture their own ideas. This is at the Harold Washington Library and it is free!
There is also a lab in the Museum of Science and Industry. It is called the Fab Lab and it is a place of wonders. Classes are held daily and are free with general admission.
Instructables
Bored? Here is a website that has instructions on SOOOOOOO many crafts and projects. Everything from cooking to robots. Great for quick weekend projects for fun or science.
YouTube
We know YouTube is a great resource for hair and make-up tips. Here are some YouTube Channels that are great for science education.
SloMo Guys
ViHart
Smarter Every Day
Crazy Russian Hacker
Make Magazine
Please let me know if you have any questions.
